sorry, but i can't understand why are not supported years <0001 - function getYear() returns 0 for years "before our epoch" and the instance of Date is empty, so Date is supporting only partial the ISO 8601 standard.

it would be a usefully solution when Date would supported years like e.g −0097-01-01.

I think what users earlier are needing years from the realy past when years in a unsurley future like 9998 :-)
